Laurent-Perrier Champagnes White, rosé, and a royal warrant

At an event at London Cru we enjoyed sampling four different kinds of Champagne, three white and one rose, from the producers, Laurent-Perrier.

A favourite of King Charles 3.

White and rose coloured Champagnes.

A lot of effort goes into making, marketing and promoting these Champagnes.

At the start of the production process they taste the wines every day.

Pink perfect for a pink theme wedding.

To be recognized, they introduced a small plump bottle so if you are ordering in a restaurant the others can note you have a distinctive Laurent-Perrier Champagne.

Everybody's tastes are different, although enough of those liking any style means the business is a success. I like the Champagne style with the distinctive bready aroma and flavour. If, however, you prefer something more subtle, and think that is superior, these sparkling wines, genuine Champagne, could be your choice.

They are not mass market. Not tours for tourists. Although the wine press can arrange special visits. They are not into tourism but concentrate on producing and selling Champagne.

The Name Laurent

The name Laurent means have a laurel wreath, crowned with glory, honour and distinction. Derived from this is the name Laurence, or Saint Laurence.

The Name Perrier

If you are browsing the Champagne bottles in a shop or online, you can find Laurent-Perrier, looking for their brand name encircled by fancy scrolls. They started back in 1812. They produce the traditional tall Champagne bottles with long necks. But also more recently distinctive shorter bottles with a more rounded body.

The Laurent family who founded the house were later joined by a lady with the name Perrier. The name Perrier is a popular name in French, derived from the word pierre, meaning stone. Maybe back in the mists of time somebody worked with stone, perhaps as a stone-mason.

The name Perrier may be familiar to you because of the brand of sparkling water, from another business, not related. But I find it easy to remember the sparkling water and the sparkling Champagne both use the name Perrier.

So, Laurent Perrier Champagne. What else should you know? They have the prestigious Royal Warrant. After your company has supplied goods to the royal family for more than five years. the situation is reviewed by the royal family. |the company's business was visited by the then Prince Charles with his late uncle Mountbatten. The current commitment of the company to sustainability is a cause which is favoured by King Charles III. So the prestigious royal warrant allows Laurent-Perrier to use the symbol of the Royal Warrant. This implies quality and kudos.

You can buy a quarter bottle of Laurent-Perrier for under twenty pounds from Tesco. Other well-known stockists in the UK are Waitrose supermarket. and wine and beverage specialists Majestic.
