Prosecco and other white and sparkling wines from Zonin in England and Italy

Image
Italian Zonin History I went to the Zonin1821 event. Zonin1821 is an Italian company, in the wine business, founded by the Zonin family in 1821, long before I was born. They started in the Veneto area, famous for the port of Venice, and Prosecco wine, and the Zonin bottle label is associated with this region. They set up Zonin UK in 1998. How come I had never heard of them? This event aimed to put that right and it did.  They now have wines from Europe, France, Spain and Italy, and the Lebanon,  South Africa, Chile and Argentina, and going south, from South Africa and New Zealand. At a walk around tasting, I started with my favourite, Prosecco. From Italy. I compared a couple of them. Then I went on to Asti, from Italy. A couple of sweet Moscatos, muscats, sweet, of course. Then a couple of Champagnes, from France, of course, to compare with Prosecco. Wine Tasting The walk around wine tasting of their wines had the usual arrangement of a good event, spittoons scattered ...

The Magic Of Marsala Wine For Cooking and Drinking

Image
What Is Marsala Wine And What Is It Used For? Marsala wine is a fortified  wine, used for drinking, and cooking chicken marsala and tiramisu. To make zabaglione, you add egg yolks and sugar to Marsala wine, or perhaps I should say, add |Marsala wine to egg yolks and sugar. The Wine Education Place and People WSET is the initials of Wine and Spirit Education Trust, which runs courses levels one, two, three a...

Italian novelties. Wines, food and festivals - including a white chocolate Xmas tree Blog Post 2 by Angela Lansbury

New wines and food from Italy  . Opportunity for distributors in the UK. Restaurants and hotels. Find something unique which nobody yet has to offer the customer. My favourite item was a green xmas tree from a cones of  white chocolate with a green pistacchio flavour coating.  Unfotunately I was not able to take a photo. But here's one I found on the web. White chocolate covered with pistacchios. From Turin which has been a centre of chocolate making for centuries. This is not available now, in May, but something to look out for at Christmas time. But it's good to plan buying or stocking a shop or restaurant. The big supermarkets order specialities up to a year ahead. I saw a giant solid wheel of yellow cheese, with the centre carved out into small chunks by keen eaters. Great eye-catching idea for serving at a party, a wedding or on a restaurant trolley. Items I saw included giant green olives. Bottles of yellow or white, viscous olive oil. Favourite Food From Italy choc...
